Feel the surface of the radiator when your heating is on, if there are cold areas at the top, then there’s probably air trapped and it requires bleeding. If it’s cold at the bottom, then a flush or preferably a ‘powerflush’ is needed to clean the system.
You may even need a new circulating pump, or the boiler’s internal heat exchanger, if the hot water at the taps has reduced in temperature.
It‘s a good idea to run your central heating briefly during the summer months just to make sure that everything is working properly and to keep your pump from sticking. If you wait until winter when plumbers become very busy, your pump and you could both find yourselves stuck!
Listen for noises when your heating system turns on. If you hear anything unusual, get in touch and one of our plumbers will come out and repair any problems before they become more serious.

Our powerflushing service is available all year and is priced by the size and number of radiators in your property.
